Staffing Agency

A staffing agency is a firm that connects job seekers with employers for temporary, contract, or permanent positions, acting as an intermediary in the hiring process.

A staffing agency (also called a temp agency, employment agency, or placement firm) is a company that matches job seekers with employers who need workers. The agency handles recruiting, screening, and sometimes payroll and benefits, serving as an intermediary between candidates and hiring companies.

Staffing agencies operate under several models. Temporary staffing places workers for defined periods (days to months). Contract or contract-to-hire arrangements provide longer-term placements with the possibility of permanent conversion. Direct placement (permanent placement) is similar to traditional recruiting, where the agency finds candidates for full-time positions. Specialized agencies focus on specific industries like IT, healthcare, finance, or creative fields.

Working with a staffing agency can be beneficial when you need income while searching for a permanent role, want to gain experience in a new industry, or prefer the flexibility of contract work. Choose agencies with good reputations in your target industry and be transparent about your goals (temporary vs. permanent). Remember that reputable agencies never charge fees to candidates — they are paid by the employer.
