One-Page Resume

A one-page resume is a single-page document that concisely presents a candidate's qualifications, typically recommended for early to mid-career professionals.

A one-page resume fits all relevant professional information — contact details, summary, work experience, education, and skills — onto a single page. This length is standard for candidates with fewer than 10 years of experience and is widely preferred by recruiters for its brevity and focus.

The one-page constraint forces you to be selective about what you include, which is actually an advantage. It ensures every line earns its place and demonstrates your ability to communicate efficiently. Most recruiters spend under 10 seconds on an initial scan, so a tightly edited single page is more likely to be read in full.

To fit content on one page without sacrificing readability, use 10-11 point font, 0.5-0.75 inch margins, and limit yourself to three or four bullet points per position. Remove outdated skills, trim older roles to one-line entries, and eliminate personal information like hobbies unless they are directly relevant. If you find yourself forcing content to fit with tiny fonts or no margins, a clean two-page resume is the better choice.
